Magnolia Masters / Easy Speed Pro Triathlete Swim Camp 2022
The last time I visited Tim and swam for him was in January 2020. That was my first time to one of his swim camps, in 2020 it was a two week long camp, 2022 was one week. After the 2020 camp I was the most swim fit I had ever been, therefore, I kept the train rolling and continued to get more swim fit and maintain the new found speed I got while swimming with Tim, then Covid hit. The pools in Wyoming were only closed for a few weeks but since I am not a natural born swimmer and I have only been swimming for a few years, I lost more than a few months of swim fitness. Fast-forward to January 2022, I am still trying to figure out what happened the last two years, we were ready for another swim camp with Magnolia Masters/Easy Speed!
Going into camp I was NOT swim fit. Swim camp was the second week in January and all of December was my off-season and I always take my offseason very seriously, get fat and sassy. Even with that being said, there is an environment that Tim provides for the athletes were no matter what their fitness levels are, or where they are at in a training cycle, he always knows how to get the most out of us. There are always more benefits of having a coach versus being self coach and even more benefits of having a coach on pool deck. Not only is the instant feedback on form priceless but also the coach assessing how the athlete moves and acts to determine compounding fatigue and stress levels. The workouts, sets, and cycle times are always HARD but always manageable if you are willing to embrace the pain, focus, and have a positive attitude.
The structure of camp this year was structured a little different due to camp only being one week. We had no rest days and each day we did a meditation session together along with one on one swim sessions in the endless pool. (I will not go into depth on our meditation sessions, that is a whole other post, but I see and feel the benefits of meditation and how it enhances life and workouts.) The overarching philosophy of the camp was the same though, USRPT (ultra short race pace training) swim training structure, using different swim toys to help improve the feel of the water and swim form, and a great group of athletes to train, suffer, and laugh with.
Tim does a fantastic job going into even more depth of his coaching philosophy, the structure of our camp, and ALL the workouts we did on the Magnolia Masters/Easy Speed Website:
