Stingray - OWS and SUP company
Stingray is a small start up company in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The company specializes in open water swimming and stand up paddle boards (SUPS). As you can tell from many of my product reviews I like to support smaller business and/or womanly-own businesses. When this company first launched I went a little crazy and placed a big order! The pools were just starting to open up from COVID and I had verbally committed to a 10K open water swim so I needed goggles and neoprene!
Wetsuit Men and women Stinger 2.0 – Both my husband and I got a new wetsuit because we would not believe the price of them plus we kind of needed new ones. I did purely OWS for a week straight to test out the wet suit and to give an honest review. The average water temperature has been around 60 degrees F or about 15 degrees C which also impacts my opinion on the wetsuit. First, lets talk about quality. I am very very pleased with the quality of this wetsuit. This is the third brand of wetsuits I have tried and it has plenty of shoulder mobility and does not feel like I am going to rip it when taking it on and off. Second, the warmth of this wetsuit is fabulous so for all swimmers who HATE to be cold this wetsuit is for you. Since I have only swam in cooler water I am not sure if this wetsuit would be too warm in a race where the water temperature is right at wetsuit cut off. Third, the bouncy is great! Not much more to say here. Lastly, neck chaffing has not been an issue for me. I have purposely refused to wear any type of anti chaffing cream just to test out the neck chaffing. My husband did have minor neck chaffing and that was without anti chaffing cream. Overall – fabulous wetsuit
Leo Goggles – I ordered one of each kind of the Leo goggles and I have no complaints about them. No leaking, no fogging, and no blinding glare from the sun. The quality so far is good. I have been wearing them for three weeks now and I have not had any issues.
Neoprene Accessories – I ordered the booties, gloves, and thermal cap. So far, and thankfully, I have only worn the thermal cap and it is super warm and comfortable!!
Lastly, Stingray gives back 10% of all profits back to help marine life conservation and volunteers their time for ocean cleanup
Note – Singray is constantly adding more stuff to their website as they get up and rolling. Hopefully one day I will get my hands on a SUP and I can do a review on that!
